Murder Mystery maestros Red Herring Games are rolling out the red carpet for their next whodunnit Mini Cruise in a blockbuster weekend at sea.
The multi‑award‑winning team is launching a full 1920s Hollywood caper aboard Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambience, blending vintage glamour with edge‑of‑your‑seat sleuthing.
Departing London Tilbury on Saturday 1 May and returning Monday 3 May 2027, this adults‑only sailing includes a stop in beautiful Bruges, giving guests a taste of Europe alongside the intrigue. Expect a cruise that’s part holiday, part live‑action mystery. With Cluedo‑style twists, late‑night evidence drops, and a now‑legendary moment between nights one and two when a second shocking “death” is revealed, the plot is crafted by storytellers who’ve spent 18 years perfecting the art of the puzzle.
Managing Director Jo Smedley says the magic lies in immersion: “Most companies offer dinner theatre. We build worlds guests can step into.” Every script is original, meticulously written, and designed to feel alive — which is exactly why the 2026 sailing sold out months early. Not due to cabin shortages, but because numbers were capped to keep the experience intimate and high‑quality.
Director of Events Joseph Parfrement Parkes explains that guests can dive into the investigation or simply enjoy watching the drama unfold over cocktails. The atmosphere is friendly, supportive and perfect for first‑time cruisers — last year, several guests had never cruised before, and some had never travelled abroad. Yet no one felt out of place. The group dynamic is part of the magic.
After years of digital events during the pandemic, the team relishes meeting long‑time fans face to face. Jo recalls guests who were thrilled to meet the actors behind their favourite characters: “We aren’t celebrities, but our customers make us feel that way sometimes.”
Murder mysteries remain a cultural favourite, fuelled by TV detectives, bestselling novels and the rise of true‑crime podcasts. Red Herring Games taps into that appetite with weekends that feel handcrafted, distinctive and alive. Other companies may offer murder mystery cruises, but none with this level of narrative depth. Every script is unique. Every plot is written by a dedicated storyteller. Every weekend is designed to feel like stepping into a living story.
