My partner and I spent two nights at 25 Captain’s Walk in July, and I was impressed by the high standard.
The block itself didn’t immediately inspire confidence, as the outside was a little tired and the corridor a touch unkempt.
But stepping into number 25 revealed a different story. Inside, the one-bedroom apartment was immaculately clean and has a calm, contemporary feel. The furnishings were like new.
The bright, airy living space opens onto a furnished balcony with a sea view. It’s a little further away than I’d anticipated, but still lovely, and you can also look out to the Bristol Channel through the folding, clear doors.
Despite the warm July weather, the apartment stayed cool. A generously sized widescreen TV and excellent Wi-Fi were welcome features. Welsh cakes waiting for us on a countertop added a thoughtful touch.
The bedroom is small with a bed that gave me two excellent nights’ sleep. Storage is limited to a clothes rail rather than a wardrobe, but this was adequate for our weekend. The bathroom was spotless with a roomy shower and bright, breezy décor.
A great find
A narrow kitchen is neatly laid out, and cleverly positioned to make the most of the space available. There was a sparkling oven, built-in microwave, hob and under-counter fridge. There wasn’t a washing machine, dishwasher or separate freezer, and cupboard space for guests’ own food was limited.
The beach, harbour, pubs and shops are all close by, reached by a five-minute downhill walk. I found the return climb a little challenging at first, but manageable, pausing once to catch my breath and take in the gorgeous view.
Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, with another beautiful stretch of coastline to explore is five minutes in the opposite direction, towards Tenby.
Free allocated parking is a bonus, with clear directions provided in advance. There’s no lift, and the apartment is up three short flights of stairs. I had no difficulty, but it’s worth noting for anyone with limited mobility.
Overall, 25 Captain’s Walk is a great find. For a weekend stay, it offers good value for money. I would very happily return.
