Have A Lovely Time - Travel Blog

About Us

Our History

Have a lovely time was founded in 2007 and continued until 2012. We’re back with not only a fresh look, but a broadened focus.

During our first inauguration we bagged various accolades for our work writing about travel with kids in tow. Over 40,000 monthly readers used our fun family exploits, insider travel tips, news and reviews to give them inspiration and advice, so they could have a lovely time whether visiting Blackpool or the Bahamas.

As commissioned travel journalists, we’re now lucky enough to share our adventures from some of the most incredible places on the planet. Our passion lies in unearthing the surprising, the awe-inspiring, and the sometimes humorous wherever we go. Our biggest hope is that we stir some wandering spirits with our words along the way.

We hope our new, re-invented website gives you itchy feet, whether taking your first steps towards distant shores or challenging yourself to stretch your boundaries.

Thank you for joining us on the journey.

Our Team

Linda Jones - editor-in-chief

Linda has been writing about travel for more than 20 years – in the early days of her career, contributing to the Lonely Planet Guide to St Petersburg and editing a weekly newspaper in Russia. One of her first press trips was on a maiden BA flight to New York from Birmingham. Recent commissions include trekking through the Amazon jungle for Cruise International magazine and touring iconic Salzburg Sound of Music locations for the Jewish Chronicle. She loves the Lake District, Pembrokeshire, the Maldives (who doesn’t?) and more.

Katie Love - editor & travel writer

Katie has worked in PR for the leisure and tourism industry for 12 years, writing features on hotels, restaurants and tourist destinations, and editing tourism blogs. Alongside Linda, Katie was instrumental in setting up the original Have a Lovely Time travel website back in 2005. Her love for adventure was sparked by a 70-mile charity trek across the Sahara Desert 15 years ago, and she still craves the more off-beat holidays that envelop her in new cultures and experiences.

Kim Nash, family travel writer

Kim is an established media professional and an original member of the Have a Lovely Time team. She is a widely-read book blogger, a publishing PR, and very recently a romantic novelist. Together with her 11-year-old son Ollie, she’ll be keeping our family section full of features and news. And with her brilliant network of authors, she’ll be contributing to ‘inspired by’, sharing in-depth interviews with writers about the places that inspire their work.

Cathy Dobbs - regular contributor

From riding a husky-led sled in Lapland to walking on the red carpet at Disney World in Florida, Cathy spent 15 years as a journalist enjoying a range of exciting press trips. Now working in PR her holidays are mainly spent with her husband and son, who has been diagnosed with autism. Cathy will be looking at how airports, hotels and travel operators are working to make holidays and weekend breaks inclusive for all. When she isn’t on family holidays, Cathy is escaping with her mum for city breaks in Europe.

Karen Pasquali-Jones - regular contributor

You’ll be able to read more about Karen very soon!
