IF this wasn't a family blog, I'd tell you exactly what I thought of the above picture. But it is so I can't. Who needs a city view during a stay in London when you can feast your eyes on such a protuberance?
Here, Trish from Mum's Gone To, explains more about said nose and other highlights of visiting the capital with a teenager in tow.

OKAY so the heatwave is over for now - but we're still forecast a long hot summer this year.
No matter what the weather you're sure to find some enjoyable activities for your whole family. You can become a great detective, enjoy a junior rally driving experience or learn more about the moon on a scientific weekend of discovery - there's something in store for everyone.

WHERE'S your nearest lido? What better way to cool off if the heatwave returns (oh go on!) than diving in and splashing about? Here, Victoria Wallop, from the wonderful It's a Small World After All blog, shares a recent discovery in the heart of London.
I'VE always been vaguely aware that you can swim in the Serpentine in Hyde Park in London, but never investigated further. I was in Hyde Park on a hot day recently and caught glimpses of people swimming in the Serpentine through the ivy screening at the edge of the lake. It looked so inviting that I decided that we had to come back as a family.

JAYNE Howarth asks:
WHAT is it you like about taking a holiday?
Is it the relaxation? The change of scenery? Waking up at a time that suits and not when the clock rudely interrupts your slumber?
Or is it getting away from the cooking and cleaning?

IF you're planning a visit to London this summer, there's a host of roving exhibitions as well as permanent attractions for all the family to visit at the city's many museums. I've rounded up a nice selection for our summer guide (June, July, August) and naturally, we'd love your comments if you've visited any of these attractions.
I've tried to include as many free days out as possible but there is a charge for some visiting exhibitions and the cost for these are listed in the guide along with tube info and opening times plus a link to the museum's website.
Don't forget to tell us - and the rest of our readers - in the comments section about a fun exhibition that you've spotted or visited. Enjoy!

STAGINGS of all manner of plays will make theatre fun for families this summer season.
Whether you're introducing children to the theatre for the first time, already seasoned theatregoers or are visiting the city, check out Kids Week - 14-28 August 2009 - where children aged five to 16 go free to many shows with a paying adult who can also pick up two further children's tickets at half price.
If you're in town on May 26, head over to the Royal Festival Hall for a Family Fun Day where the casts from Thriller Live, Oliver and members of the English National Ballet will be hosting a free interactive event plus arts and crafts activities. The Lyric Hammersmith will also host A Blooming Marvellous Summer Party on July 11. Suitable for over twos, it's a free day of shows and activities.

KEW has comfortably managed to create a day out for everyone with wide stretches of lawn perfect for little ones to run about, flowers to admire, trees to climb, play areas and an abundance of picnic spots. And amazingly, all children under 17 go free with adults - something we'd like to see more of! We started off our Bank Hol weekend with a spur of the moment decision to visit the Gardens, which are celebrating their 250th anniversary this year - and promptly packed up a picnic and rug.
