My family are all great fans of France, but somewhat surprisingly, we 'd been missing a trick during recent holidays when we would bypass Brittany to head further south.
Drawn to the long golden beaches and great climate of the Vendee, we'd been used to long drives from Brittany ports, and our view of the region had pretty much been restricted to the car window.

I WAS really impressed with this book, which is one of a series published by Frommer's,writes Becky from Englishmum
We chose to visit the Côtes d’Armor and were pleased to find an individual map of the area as well as advice on how to get to this specific area, not just Brittany as a whole.
We based our stay around the beautiful Côte d’Emeraude on the eastern coast of the area, and although the airport of Dinard is just short of an hour’s drive away, we were pleased that we took the guide’s advice and took the car, arriving via the Eurostar and driving down to the area.
Our beautiful gîte (booked via Gîtes de France ) on a small working dairy farm and was less than a ten minute drive from some beautiful beaches, and lovely little towns.

WHERE do you go if you want a holiday abroad but don’t want to travel too far? Rather than driving miles in search of sunnier climes, try stopping in Northern France.
Eurotunnel is great for families who want to get to their destination as quickly as possible. With three children (including a noisy toddler) to consider, distance is always a key factor for us.

MY daughters recently went on a school trip to Paris.
They stayed at a PGL centre for five days. Although we worried they'd miss us, and there was the odd tear when we set eyes upon each other on their return, I don't think they did one bit.
