We are an experienced team of journalists, specialising in writing about family travel.
Our aim is to provide great quality reviews, news and features, as well as ideas on great places to go and things to see, written by parents, for parents.
Linda Aitchison is mum to twins, Emily and Melissa, aged 14. After losing her wonderful husband, Neil, to cancer last year, Linda and her girls promised to continue Neil’s love of travelling. They adore Pembrokeshire and Ceridigion as much as Florida and Dubai (or maybe a little more). Linda set up Have a Lovely Time as she was fed up of reading about ‘surviving’ time with your children on holiday.
Along with her two boys, Morgan, 14, and Dylan, 12, and Pearl, the best looking dog in the world (not pictured) Carol loves going to France. The boys also love outdoor activities, so anything to do with rock climbing, fishing, canoeing and they are happy. Their holidays include regular visits to family in Cornwall, where the boys spend hours around camp fires in the garden. Carol whinges a lot about the distance, but don’t tell her we said that.
The Garringtons are also part of the Xbox Family Ambassador programme for Have a Lovely Time, reporting on the latest games for Xbox and Kinect, and taking part in gaming events, previews and launches.
Helen is mum to daughters Ellie, 9, and Rhona, 6, married to Stewart, and generally happiest when outside. Not a big fan of rainy days, though it is an excuse for making and baking, and watching old films. The family loves trips in their trailer tent, days on the beach, French holidays, picnics, baking cup cakes, jumping in muddy puddles and making – and eating – pizza.
The girls are thrilled that after lots of nagging, they now have two dogs, Maggie and Ruby (can we though, daddy, can we, can we. Oh! Alright then).
Our graphic designer, Julie’s family is made up of partner Gordon, Alex, 20, and Charlotte, 23. Their favourite holidays include trips to Europe, they love exploring the history of places, visiting museums, walking and taking in the beautiful surroundings and architecture.Their dream is to live in Big Sur, California. Having visited twice, they have fallen in love with the laid back lifestyle and large open spaces. They also enjoy city breaks, eating out, cocktails and wine tasting and have a passion for Mexican food.
Katie is married to Dave and has two boys, Alex, 17, and Ben, 11. They love unhurried holidays where they can take in beautiful scenery, discover historic sites and enjoy long walks, but wouldn’t turn down a weekend city break too. They all love their food, and eating out is always a highlight of their trips. With a new addition to their family this year of a rescue dog from Romania, Zani, they will now need pet friendly destinations!
